Which versions of the CVT book includes the CVT Sound Library?
The CVT Sound Library is a collection of sounds and exercises which was first included in the 2008 English version of Cathrine Sadolin's book 'Complete Vocal Technique'.
Please note that the present Danish version of the book does not include access to the Sound Library, and neither does all other versions published before 2008.
These are the books that include a download of the CVT Sound Library:
- Complete Vocal Technique, English, 2008.
- Complete Zangtechniek, Dutch, 2008 and 2009.
- Komplett Sångteknik, Swedish, 2009.
- Komplette Gesangstechnik, German, 2009 and 2010.
- Technique vocale complète, French, 2010.
- Kokonaisvaltaisen äänenkäytön tekniikka, Finnish, 2009 and 2011.
Listen online or download?
The sounds can be played directly from the completevocaltechnique.com website. However we recommend that you also download the sound library for your own convenience. In many cases it will be practical to have the sound library stored in your own computer, iPod or alike, so you can use it everywhere regardless of internet access. The sound files are standard mp3 format and can be played on almost all computers and media players.
Get access to the sound library with your license key code
1)
Go to www.completevocaltechnique.com/soundlibrary. Click on 'CVT Sound Library'.

If you already have an account enter your username and password and click 'Log in'. Then go to step 4.
If you do not have an account click 'Create new account' and go to step 3.
Please note that even if you already have an account at the CVI-forum, it might not work for the Sound Library. Go to step 3.

Read the terms and conditions by following the link, and click in the 'I agree' check box to confirm you are agreeing in what you have read.
Enter a username of your own choice in the field 'Username'.
Enter your email address in the field 'E-mail address'.
Click 'Create new account'.
An email with your login and temporary password will be sent to your email address. You can later change the password if you want. (Please note that the email might end in your spamfilter).
Go to www.completevocaltechnique.com/soundlibrary
...or in the left menu at the Complete Vocal Institute website click on 'Sound Library'.
...or in the left menu at the Complete Vocal Institute website click on 'Login'.
Enter the Username and Password provided in the email you have received, and click 'Log in'.

Enter your license key received with the book 'Complete Vocal Technique'. You can find the license key at the inside of the backside cover.
If you get an "Invalid code" message, try to check if the code contains an 'O' (the letter) that might be mistaken for a '0' (zero - the number), and vice versa.
Then click 'Submit' to go to the 'Sound Library' page.
If you do not see the 'Sound Library' page, click on 'Sound Library' in the menu to the left.
If you don't have a book, you can buy a separate license key in our shop.
How to use the CVT Sound Library
Go to www.completevocaltechnique.com/soundlibrary
If you have not already done so follow the steps 1 - 4 to create an account, login and enter your license key.
To get to the sound library page follow the links or click on 'Sound Library' in the menu to the left.
5) How to download the CVT Sound Library to your own computer (Bulk download)
Under Bulk download click the section of sound examples you want to download. Please note that depending on the speed of your internet connection the download time can take from 1 to 20 minutes or more per section.
The bulk download files are compressed as Zip files for your convenience and to save download time. If the files do not uncompress automatically on your computer when the download is complete, then follow the directions below.
For easy access you might want to import the sound files files into your preferred media player (iTunes, iPod etc).
6) How to listen to or download single files
Click on the links at the bottom of the page:
- 'Three Overall Principles' (sound example 1 - 54)
- 'Exercises for the modes' (sound example 55 - 162)
- 'Sound Colour' (sound example 163 - 209)
- 'Effects' (sound example 210 - 316)
- 'Additional Techniques' (sound example 317 - 350)
- 'Various sounds' (sound example 351 - 417)
Click the play button for the sound you want to hear and the sound will begin playing.
To stop the sound from playing click the same button again.

Trouble-shooting

Problem:
You have registered with your username and email address, but have not received an activation email with password.
Solution:
Check your spam filter. Especially if you have a Gmail account. Gmail has a tendency to mark the auto-generated activation email as spam.
If the activation email is not in your spam filter either, wait a few minutes and then check again. The mail should be sent to you immediately, but sometimes it can take up to 5-10 minutes before it arrives.

Problem:
After entering the license key from the book, you get the message: "Invalid code"
Solution:
Check if the license code contains an 'O' (the letter) that might be mistaken for a '0' (zero - the number), and vice versa. Try out the different combinations.

Problem:
If you are logged in and can see the links to the Sound Library files, but can't download or get the message:
"Can't open this internet area. The site is not available or not existing. Try later"
Solution 1:
Our server might be overloaded. Too many user are trying to download at the same time. Please try again later.
Solution 2:
Some users experience problems when trying to download with Internet Explorer. The sound library files can then be downloaded with Firefox which can be downloaded for free at http://www.mozilla.com

How to uncompress a Zip file or folder
After downloading a Zip file, you need to uncompress or unzip the file to use it.
A. Double-click on the Zip file.
B. It should expand automatically.
C. A file or folder with the same name (without the Zip) should appear.
D. Drag the contents of the Zip file to the desktop (or another location). When you do this, you will be copying the information from the Zip file to the computer. This will be your working copy of the data from the Zip file.
E. Close the Zip file window. You may keep the Zip file or delete it.
