About CVT and CVI
Complete Vocal Technique has revolutionized singing technique and is being used worldwide by professional singers within all styles of music. Cathrine Sadolin is one of the leading voice researchers in the world. Her research crosses all vocal styles, combined with her own experience as a professional singer, and has inspired innovative thinking within the field. Cathrine Sadolin regularly participates in voice conferences around the world, contributing to ongoing voice and vocal technique research. Cathrine Sadolin's ongoing and always updated research continues to inspire singers, singing teachers, actors, speech therapists, and doctors alike. The book, Complete Vocal Technique has sold in more 20.000 copies.
Complete Vocal Technique covers the anatomy and correct use of the voice with the Four Vocal Modes (Neutral, Curbing, Overdrive, Edge), Sound colours, Emergency aid (preventing damaging the voice ) and introduces a healthy way of producing Vocal Effects (i.e. distortion, growl, screams, vocal breaks, adding air to the voice, vibrato, ornamentation technique).
Complete Vocal Institute (CVI) was founded in 2005 based on Cathrine Sadolin's Complete Vocal Technique. CVI is already the largest singing institute in Europe for professional and semi-professional singers. More than 500 singers from 17 nationalities have taken or are taking a longer singing education at CVI such as 14 weeks intensive singers course, 1-year Singers Course (offered in 6 countries) and the 3 year singer/ teachers course. More than 3.000 singers all over Europe has participated in CVT master classes and workshops around the world.
Complete Vocal Technique research
With the technique and pedagogical method well proved in real life situations, Cathrine Sadolin and CVI has in the last couple of years shown increased focus on the scientific side. In collaboration with Dr. Julian McGlashan and Dr. Nazia Munir from Queens Medical Centre University Hospital in Nottingham, we have done several studies, which will result in papers beeing published soon. Authorized CVT Teachers
In 2002 the first two groups of 3-year Singers / Teachers started to be taught by Cathrine Sadolin. When these two groups graduated in 2005, consisting of 21 Danish and 2 Norwegian singers, Complete Vocal Institute - CVI - was founded. In 2005 three groups of 3-year Singers / Teachers started, and 37 singers graduated as Authorized Complete Vocal Technique teachers in June 2008. They were from Denmark, Norway, Netherlands, Iceland, and Sweden.
In February 2007 another three groups of 3-years Singers / Teachers started, and 32 of them graduated as Authorized Complete Vocal Technique teachers in November 2009.
Four more groups stared in August and September 2008 and five groups is starting January and March 2010. Within a few years there will be Authorized CVT teachers spread in 12 countries - mainly and most concentrated in Northern Europe, but also more south and in Egypt and the USA.
There are worldwide as per January 2010 81 authorized CVT teachers in Denmark, Sweden, Netherlands, Iceland, Norway and Estonia plus Cathrine.
Complete Vocal Technique was originally published in an educational video in 1991 called "Rough, ready and able". The video was translated and published into English and Swedish in 1996. In the same year the book, Komplet Sangteknik (Complete Vocal Technique) was published in Danish. In 2000 the English version was published, and also an updated version of the Danish. In 2003, the Dutch version Complete Zangtechniek was released - and a 3rd version of the Danish book - and in 2006 the Swedish version Komplett Sångteknik and the 4th version of the Danish book and the 2nd version of the Dutch book was also published. In 2008 an updated version of the English book (2nd version) and the Dutch book (3rd version) was published. In 2009 a German version Komplette Gesangstechnik was published along with the 2nd edition of the Swedish version and the first Finnish version Kokonaisvaltaisen äänenkäytön tekniikka. We expect to publish new versions also in French and Spanish during 2010.
